Research Objectives
  • Investigate cost-effective architectures to provide scalability, modularity, reliability, fault tolerant communication with unreliable devices and security;
  • Determine network architecture models that enable heterogeneous wireless sensor networks to carry efficiently data from different sensors;
  • Develop power efficient protocols and algorithms for internetworking with WiMax, WiFi, and cellular systems as well as sensor network interfaces in mesh and ad hoc network environments
  • Develop selected service software applications such as telemedicine, intelligent building and home security, emergency preparedness and response, and intelligent vehicular systems
  • Design and build a test bed to support selected applications
